DSDN101 patern

This is the pattern made using illustrator. It integrates symbols taken from Brittany and Japan, I chose those two cultural influences for two different reasons. Brittany was chosen because thats where I've spent the most time in my life, while Japan was chosen to represent the Asian side of my cultural background. There are four symbols arranged in the pattern. The first is the Hermine Bretone, the symbol of Brittany, it integrates a Japanese pattern symbolizing waves, it creates a link between both cultures that revolve around the ocean. The two other symbols are a Triskel and a Tomoe, they both represent a trinity and are very similar though they both originated at opposite sides of the planet. They are recurring symbols throughout their respective cultures, especially the Triskel.

DSDN101 final hand-in

The final Hatch, I used organic components to do each square and the lines are used to give an organic feel to the composition.

Final orthographic drawing of an I-pod. I chose to represent in the section organic elements so as to contrast with the mechanical and technological aspect of the device.
Final scale section drawing. the one on the botom emphasizes the outre shell by the use of the pen  while the one at the top is more focused on the inner components.
Final Style-of drawing, inspired by the picture below, I used the same colors and in the same way as in the inspirational picture (blue for large surfaces, red for small ones, green and yellow of moderate sized areas). Additionally, I put a limit on my self to not make any angles other than 90° angles. The three drawings on the right are different layers of the object while the one on the right is a cityscape created by using the different "blocs" from the left-hand pictures.I did a cityscape to resonate with the inspirational picture which is an architectural plan.

These are the final pattern pictures, I used elements from the orthographic drawing to create a different object, namely, an oriental fan. The colors chosen are a dark gray, white and red. The dark gray and the white are the dominant colors of the I-pod when it is at rest and contrast well, while the red is there to represent the Asian nature of the fan and the technological aspect of the I-pod from which it is constructed, by contrasting with the white and thus resembling the Japanese flag, symbole of technological advance.

The inspiration for the personality drawing is the lower painting of the image above.
The personality drawing was inspired by the picture above where the objects are placed in the place of the blue coloring so as to contrast with the empty spaces in the same way as the cold blue color contrasts with the warm red color.

Final windows composition: I tried to arrange the windows that I though would best represent the 4 elements around the one of a Buddhist hand representing the spirit. I find this composition resonates with the mostly Asian objects represented.
